Lent – Share the Journey

From the placing of ashes on our foreheads to Good Friday where we observe the death of our God, Lent can be a tough time for Christians. It reminds us that our faith is not easy. Often ignored, this church season seems harsh to a culture obsessed with the frills of Christmas. Yet the innocent child of Bethlehem grew up and gave witness to a life that does not shy away from a difficult world. Jesus will call us to follow him to places we would likely never choose for ourselves. The good news is that Christ does not call us into the season of Lent or into the tough places on our own. God gives us companions along the journey – other Christians across time and place that can help us along this path that ultimately leads to life.
This Lent, journey with orphans in ZOE Ministry’s Giving Hope Empowerment Program. Be inspired by these children who did not choose a hard life – it was chosen for them. Meet children whose parents died of genocide and HIV/AIDS-children who have suffered through stigmatization, hunger, and poverty and now demonstrate the selflessness of Christ. Sharing in the suffering that led them to healing just might lead you to a greater hope in Christ.
Be inspired. Be challenged. Share the Journey.
